Breeding New NFTs Is a Digital Mentoring Process

The world of NFT characters evolves in a manner similar to the human world — two parents give birth to offspring. However, while in the real world, the wait lasts for 9 months, in the digital realm, this happens in a matter of minutes — with the recording of the NFT offspring on the blockchain.

Let’s find out what the process of creating new NFTs looks like, using our trading simulator Banksters as an example.

Understanding NFTs

Before diving into NFT breeding, it’s crucial to grasp the basics of NFTs. NFTs are unique digital assets that are indivisible and cannot be replicated. They are built on blockchain technology, making them tamper-proof and secure.

NFTs can represent various digital items, including art, music, videos, virtual real estate, and even tweets. Ownership of an NFT is verified on the blockchain, providing transparency and provenance.

The Birth of NFT Breeding

NFT breeding is an innovative concept that has gained traction in the digital collectibles space. It involves combining two or more NFTs to create a new, unique NFT.

Think of it as a digital form of reproduction. The resulting NFT inherits skills or attributes from its parent NFTs, much like genetic inheritance in biological organisms.

How NFT Breeding Works

  1. Parent Selection: To begin the NFT breeding process, collectors and artists choose two NFTs as “parents.”
  2. Skill and Skill Inheritance: Each NFT possesses certain skills or skills that are inherited by the offspring. These skills include visual elements, audio components, or even metadata.
  3. Algorithmic Generation: An algorithm generates the new NFT, combining the skills and skills from the parent NFTs. This algorithm may incorporate randomness, ensuring that the resulting NFT is unique.
  4. Minting the Offspring: Once the new NFT is created, it is minted onto the blockchain as a separate, distinct NFT. It can be owned, bought, sold, and traded like any other NFT.

How to Breed New Banksters

Banksters is a PvP (Player versus player) simulator that explores the world of fantasy trading, where players predict the market flow, influence it and earn rewards.

The trading simulator uses BANKSTERS — digital avatars as playable characters, with unique sets of abilities to influence gameplay depending on its class.

Banksters Rarities

There are seven classes of Banksters. The default Bankster class, called “Hamster,” is a non-NFT class; therefore, his monetary functions are excluded, and his mining capacity and development are limited. However, a Hamster can be a good start for participating in Invest Runs.

When it comes to NFT-classes, there are six rarities with different ranges of skills and abilities, mining capacity, and breeding possibilities.

In the Banksters terminology, instead of the commonly used “Breeding” found in many NFT games, we introduce the “Mentoring Process.”

This unique system allows two NFT Banksters to collaborate, mentoring an offspring with a combined set of Skills and Abilities.

What You Need to Initiate the Mentoring Process

To initiate the Mentoring Process, players must acquire Mentoring Points (MP). These points are vital for progressing through the game.

How to Earn Mentor Points

  • Participating in Invest Runs.
  • Collecting $BARS tokens and Experience Points (XP).
  • Upgrading Banksters to certain levels within the game (e.g., reaching Level 5 awards one Mentor Point).

For minting new Banksters, each parent has to obtain Mentor Points. During minting, each parent loses 1 mentor point.

What a Child-NFT Inherits

  • Mentor Points: A Child Bankster forms the next generation and has one less mentor point than the parents’ value. In case the generations of parents are different, the parent to inherit mentor points is randomly chosen with a 50–50 chance.
  • Rarity: Considering the rules of Rarity inheritance, a child inherits a rarity from one of parents with 50%/50% probability. If two parents have the same rarity, here is a table of new Bankster class probability:
  • Skills and Abilities: Banksters have skills that correspond to different abilities. There are 32 skills, with 4 for each of the 8 abilities. You can learn more about skills in a separate article.

Each Bankster has 10 random Skills selected from the 32 Skills available. Skills are divided into “Active” and “Passive” categories. Active Skills determine which Abilities a Bankster can use.

Passive Skills don’t affect gameplay and are only used in the Mentoring Process.

A Bankster’s active Skills are the top X Skills in their skill list, where X depends on the Bankster’s Class (3 to 8). Skills are graded, with higher grades providing bigger bonuses to the corresponding ability.

The List of Skills Is Formed in Several Stages:

  1. Skills that match between parents are selected. These Skills are passed on to the child.
  2. A Skill is randomly chosen from the selected parent. The chosen Skill is added to the child.
  3. Now, a Skill is randomly selected from the OTHER parent and passed on to the child.
  4. Changing the parent and selecting the next Skill is repeated until the child has a complete list of Skills.
  5. Each Skill of the child is assigned a random value from 1 to 100 (without assigning the same value to multiple Skills).
  6. Based on Skill values, Skills are sorted from highest to lowest.
  7. The first N Skills are considered active, where N depends on the Bankster class: Trader — 3, Investor — 4, Shark — 5, Whale — 6, Illuminati — 7, Reptilian — 8.

To Conclude

As you can see, the mentoring process is a complex mathematical process. If you understand how it works, you can somehow influence it.

So, you can choose special parents of a particular Rarity with certain Skills and a specific amount of Mentoring Points. If anything is unclear, we are open to questions in the comments.
